What we learned today- Hazel is very protective of her house. If someone comes in that she doesn't know, even if she is given the chance to greet them outside, she will bark and or snarl at that person.
We had a repair man out today to fix our washer and I happened to meet him outside on our walk. She was perfectly fine outside and we went on our merry way. We came back around 20 minutes later and he was hard at work trying to figure out what's wrong with our machine (My sweetie let him in). As soon as we walked in the door she started letting out these little warning barks and once he walked into view all hell broke loose! We know she cannot see very well so we flipped on some lights, introduced her again and she calmed down. She kept her eye on him while he was working, but no more barking. Then he left to his van to get some parts and came back in about 15 minutes later, she was fine when he walked in but once he got near my sweetie she freaked out, jumped down and full on snarled at him. My sweetie grabbed her and once she realised it was someone she had already met she wagged her tail at him and gave him a lick. Then she followed him around while he finished working.
This is something we're going to have to work on, I don't think she will bite anyone but we have small children that come around and we can't have her growling at them like that. I'm off to google to figure out some training techniques. Wish us luck!

Review-OMyDog! Shampoo
So there is the princess with her favorite Omydog! Shampoo. It's actually the only one we could find and we haven't been able to find it again except for on Amazon.com
O My Dog! World is a company from San Diego CA (just a hop skip and a jump away from me!) that uses natural ingredients to make environmentally (and Hazel friendly) dog shampoos. Before I skip into my review, lets get a little back story on WHY I chose Omydog!
When we got Miss Hazel we were not aware that she was allergic to pretty much any commercial dog skin care.We very quickly figured it out, her poor skin breaks out in an awful rash and her eyes get weepy and red. So I have been making my own vegan friendly shampoos(the kind that humans use, there are not a lot of recipes for dogs) and just pushing though it once a week with the AWFUL smells they have.
One day I was cruising our local Pet Co looking for a new sweater for my girl and out of the corner of my eye I saw "Natural Care" and "Aromatherapy". I thought it was too good to be true but I picked up the bottle anyway. Let me tell you, I nearly broke down into tears when I saw the ingredients list. Soap free, Sodium free, all natural products. I could pronounce every single ingredient. I snatched up the last bottle and took it home for bath time that day.
Now..on to the review. Miss Hazel is not a fan of bath time(can you blame her?) and I was very apprehensive to try a store bought product. Unfortunately due to the nature of her allergies she needs a bath at least once a week, if not more. I actually forgot to smell the shampoo till I brought it home but I was pleasantly surprised. We got Almond Cherry Pop- Puppy and it smells amazing.
Immediately after putting it in my hands I knew it wasn't like other dog shampoos, it just feels different. It suds up nicely for an all natural product and it rinses clean quickly(Hazel appreciates that). I dried her off, crossed my fingers and waited.
She came out super fluffy and smelled amazing and NO RASH! I danced for joy, she danced for joy and then we broke out the dreaded brush...but that's another review.
So in conclusion
PROS:
*Smells great
*Hypoallergenic
*Gets your Pup Clean
*Not to expensive (I think we got it for less than $8)
*A lot of "Flavors"
Cons:
*Hard to find
Really that's my only Con. I haven't been able to find it again :( I will keep looking and hopefully the princess will come to enjoy bath time now that she is not breaking out in a rash every time.
Omydog! has a large line of products including shampoos and spritzers in a variety of scents. I cannot wait to try them all!

Third Times The Charm
This is Princess Hazel. Her name is really just Hazel but she knows she is a princess and lets everyone else around her know it.
We recently adopted Hazel from the San Clemete Animal Shelter, where she had lived for over a month. Miss Hazel is what they call a "Third Chance Dog" meaning the animal shelter we adopted her from got her from a high kill shelter in the area right before she was about to be put down. Knowing her as we do now, we know we are extremely lucky that someone saw her and got her out when they did.
Miss Hazel is sweet and loving, a little neurotic and a lot bossy. We think she is a Corgi/ Chihuahua mix, but whatever she is she has no idea that she is only 13.5lbs. Her big dog bark goes with her big dog attitude.
We very quickly discovered that she cannot see very well. It's not really an issue, we just need to be careful on night time walks. We also learned (not as quickly) that she has some pretty severe allergies, and a bad case of separation anxiety. We're working on the separation anxiety and working around the allergies. It's all worth it at the end of the day when she hops up in bed with me and dives under the covers.
We're not sure why anyone would pass up our little girl, but we're glad they did. She completes our little family.
